About The Lodge

Interested in experiencing Alaska's great outdoors while working at Majestic Valley Lodge? The 9 acre property is located in the scenic Tahneeta Pass between two mountain ranges. The lodge is accessible by highway and is three hours from Anchorage.

The guest facilities consist of 8 rooms, 3 cabins, and the main lodge dining hall with lounge. The dining room accommodates 100, but most often groups number between 12 and 20 people. Meals are served to guests staying at the lodge. Most lodge guests come to hike, raft the Matanuska River, trek the Matanuska Glacier, or simply get away from it all. Guests come from the United States as well as abroad.

Employee Schedules:
We are looking for full time, energetic staff members for the 2008 summer season beginning May 1. All positions require individuals that enjoy working with the public. Schedules usually consist of a 5 consecutive day work-week, with two days off.

Employee Housing:
Staff members are housed in a large A-Frame building, previously the main lodge. Each staff person has their own room area with two shared baths. Room and board are included. Laundry facilities are available on the property at no extra charge.

Positions Available:

Chef
State of the art, spacious kitchen contains 6 burner wolf stove, 2 ovens, griddle, 2 commercial refrigerators, deep fat fryer, meat slicer, Viking mixer, Cuisinarts, 4 sinks, commercial dishwasher, and numerous windows (awesome views).

Duties include the following: planning menus, grocery shopping, preparing and plating the meals, assistance with cleaning the kitchen after meal service, and outlining meal preparation tasks for kitchen assistant. Generally, a 5 course dinner meal is served. We use fresh ingredients; bake our own breads and desserts, as well as salad dressings and etc. This position also requires the employee to multi task into other areas, such as: mowing the lawn, painting, light maintenance, guest check-in, and housekeeping. Position starts at a salary of $1500 month plus tips are split between the staff. End of season bonus available. Culinary institute graduates preferred for chef position. Driver's License also required.

Housekeeper/Server/Kitchen Prep
Duties for this position are first and foremost the maintenance of housekeeping tasks (8 rooms and three cabins). Each has two beds and private bathroom. Housekeeping, when there is a large turn around, will be assisted by the Assistant Housekeeper/ Server/ Kitchen Prep/Dishwasher. Other duties include serving guests; kitchen prep, clearing tables, cleaning dining room, dishwashing, and guest check-in. Outside tasks include mowing the lawn, watering flowers, weeding, painting, and etc. Position starts at $1200 month plus tips are split between the staff. End of season bonus available. Housekeeping and light cooking/baking experience preferred.

Assistant Housekeeper/ Server/ Kitchen Prep/Dishwasher
The duties of this position requires an individual that likes to do a little of everything. This person should be able to go with the flow: serving guests, clearing tables, washing dishes, watering flowers, weeding, painting, cleaning dining rooms, kitchen prep, and housekeeping. This position starts at $1100 month plus tips are split between the staff. End of season bonus available.

Serving staff, 21 years and older, are required to have a state of Alaska TAM card. Cards may be obtained upon arrival by taking a class. The cost is $40/person.

Ski Trail Groomer/ Maintenance/ Server/ Dishwasher
If you enjoy the outdoors and operating a snow machine, chain saw, and can do light maintenance, this would be the job for you. We groom the ski trails with a Baumbardier Snow Cat and a Skandik Super Wide Track with grooming attachments. We groom 20 kilometers of ski trail. Fallen-dead spruce trees periodically need to be cleared off the trails. Usually, the trails take two days to groom for a weekend group. This person should also be able to do light maintenance such as fixing toilets, painting, and etc. Additionally, helping serve guests, kitchen prep, and doing dishes are required. The position starts at $1300 per month plus tips. End of season bonus available. Drivers license is required.
